Embassy or Consulate Appointment for Marriage in Morocco
Before getting married in Morocco, you must book an embassy or consulate appointment for notarial services.
Appointments can fill up weeks or even months in advance, so make sure to book early, before arriving in Morocco.
Documents You’ll Get at the Embassy Appointment
At your appointment, your embassy will issue the following documents:
1. Certificate of Capacity to Marry
Also called a Certificate of No Impediment or Eligibility to Marry.
This document proves to Moroccan authorities that:
You are not currently married
You are marrying voluntarily
❣️ Must be:
Legalized by the Ministry of Interior in Rabat
Translated into Certified Arabic
2. Notarized Copy of Your Passport
A certified copy of your passport, issued by your embassy.
Often also serves as your Affidavit of Nationality, depending on your country.
No Arabic translation needed.
3. Affidavit of Nationality (if not included in your passport copy)
An official statement confirming your citizenship.

Bring the following with you:
Your passport
Your partner’s National ID or passport
Can be physical or a clear photo
If using a photo of the National ID, include both front and back

After your embassy appointment:
Legalize the Certificate of Capacity to Marry and (if applicable) the Affidavit of Nationality
Go to the Ministry of Interior in Rabat for this step
If your embassy appointment was in another city (e.g., Casablanca or Marrakech), you'll need to travel to Rabat.
