Police Interview for Mixed Marriage in Morocco
As part of the marriage process between a Moroccan and a foreigner, the family court requires a police interview. This step ensures both partners are entering the marriage willingly and with clear understanding.
What Is the Police Interview?
Once your marriage file is submitted to the family court, the court will begin reviewing your documents. Within 2–3 days, it will issue a letter requesting a police interview. You must take this letter to the local police station to schedule the interview.
How to Arrange the Police Interview
Get the Letter from Court
You or your adoul can visit the court to collect the interview request letter. You may also ask the court office when it will be ready.Book the Interview at the Police Station
Bring the letter to the local police station.
They may:Conduct the interview immediately
Or schedule it within the next 1–2 days
Procedures may vary slightly by region. Your adoul will guide you if the process is different.
Will My Partner Attend the Interview?
Yes! Both you and your Moroccan partner will attend the interview together.
It is a joint conversation with the police.
What Language Will the Interview Be In?
If the officer speaks English, the interview will be in English.
If not, your partner may translate, or the police may use Google Translate or another tool.
Either way, there will be no language barrier.
What Questions Will Be Asked?
Don’t worry — this is a friendly and informal interview. Just be honest and relaxed.
Common questions include:
❣️How did you and your partner meet?
❣️What do you do for work and how much do you earn?
❣️What is your educational background?
❣️What is your living situation in your home country?
❣️What do your parents do?
❣️Do you have siblings? What do they do?
❣️What are your plans after marriage (e.g., where you’ll live)?
❣️Every interview is a bit different, but the questions are simple and personal — no trick questions.
What Happens After the Interview?
The police will write a report summarizing your answers
This report is sent back to the court
The judge will review your complete file and issue approval to marry
Your adoul will be informed and will invite you to their office to sign the marriage contract. At that point, you will be legally married !
